In 2002 the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded a consortium of 3 centers, including the Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington D.C., to provide all extramurally funded NINDS/NIMH investigators with the opportunity to further their research through the use of expression profiling technology. The primary goal of this consortium is to further translational research through acquisition and dissemination of high quality expression array data.
The NINDS/NIMH Microarray Consortium Portal was designed as a web application to allow for information dissemination, in the form of news, educational and microarray resources, links to other data sources, ability to view lectures and submit proposals as candidates for using this technology.
